First-Centenary serves a variety of mission projects in our community.
Below are some local mission agencies and work projects you can be involved in.

We prayerfully choose organizations to support based on the Wesleyan Quadrilateral (Scripture, Reason, Experience, and Tradition).

The Bible tells us in Matthew 25:40 that when we serve the least of these, we are serving God.  It also tells us in Matthew 28 to go into the world and make disciples of Jesus Christ.  We believe missions should reach the least and the lost in order to make disciples of Jesus Christ

We also believe that we are to choose organizations that fill the greatest need and where we can have the greatest impact.

We look for organizations where our church members can be active in service.

We also like supporting United Methodist organizations, but are not limited to them.

  • Unity in the Community - Unity in the Community is a multi-cultural, ecumenical, Christian organization collaborating to serve others through practical community projects.  We meet the second Saturday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to Noon at the Salvation Army located at: 2140 East 28th Street. (Corner of 4th Ave/28th St). For more information on the ongoing projects, check out http://www.chattanoogaunity.org/

  • St Andrews Center - The mission of St. Andrews Center is to transform the Highland Park community and the city of Chattanooga by partnering with faith-based groups and other non-profit organizations to provide space and spirit where all are invited to learn, work and worship.  Check out http://www.st-andrewscenter.org/ for more information.

  • Interfaith Homeless Network - IHN networks with local churches to provide a place to stay for homeless families while they provide job training and life skills to help each family move off the streets.  First-Centenary is one of the 49 host churches for IHN.  We host homeless families four times a year.
