Nook and Cranny People

In a recent article I referred to the family of faith being “bridge people.” Well, I have another thought.

I see our faith family serving through First-Centenary and worshipping and studying in this place as “Nook and Cranny People.” A lot of this comes from our occuppying our Oak Street Center and the new spaces in the existing building. As I make my way throughout our campus I see people of all ages and church backgrounds enjoying this new space. I see some rather creative ways families use a space under a stairway or a broadened hallway as a meeting place. People are lingering in new spaces. For me this gives rise to the image of God’s people fulfilling a call and filling all kinds of nooks and crannys out of love of God and His creation.

A hospital call as a lay visitor is a nook. An Inner City afterschool tutor is a cranny. Being alto, soprano, bass, or tenor is a nook. (Tenors may be crannys.) A children’s Sunday school teacher is both a nook and a cranny. We are all fulfilling God’s loving call.

Praise God for using all his family and for His filling our nooks and crannys as humans serving His Kingdom.
