Inner City Ministry is an outreach ministry of First-Centenary. The program began in 1968 when a Sunday school class saw Inner City children playing on the church's parking lot. 38 years later, the program continues to help students realize their potential and reach beyond the cycle of simply existing.

We were there! The Inner City Ministry Summer Day Camp was at Booker T. Washington State Park when Governor Phil Bredsen removed the parking fee from all state parks. Pictured are Governor Phil Bredesen, Representative Tommie Brown and the ICM Day Camp 2006.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Inner City Ministry of First-Centenary is to follow the example of Christ by sharing his ideals with children and their families in the Chattanooga community. Through educational, physical, social, spiritual, and work programs, we help these children and their families build self-esteem, cultivate self-discipline, develop better communication skills and respect for others. We celebrate the diversity and dignity of all people and strive to create an atmosphere for racial reconciliation to occur.

Spiritual Development -The mind controlled by the spirit is life and peace.
Romans 8:6b

Camp Lookout and weekly Bible study enhance spiritual values of Inner City children. Church members actively support this experience through volunteering, camperships, and donations.

Educational Development
Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding. Proverbs 3:13

Getting things done is not always what is most important. There is a value in allowing others to learn, even if the task is not accomplished as quickly, efficiently, or effectively. (R. D. Clyde)

Tutoring
Educating our youth today can make a difference in their future. The Inner City Ministry offers an excellent After-School tutoring program for the inner city youth. Our main goal is to improve reading, writing, spelling and mathematical skills.
Physical Development
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your strength.
Mark 12:30.

The program offers a wide variety of recreational activities for participants K-12. Recreation plays an important role in the development and enhancement of children. Many activities are in conjunction with the City of Chattanooga's Parks, Recreation, Arts and Culture Department.
